Waiting, Waiting, Waiting

Can we take just a few minutes and discuss “wait times”?

Yeah let’s.

If you’ve ever been to the dentist or the doctor you’ve had to wait.

And then wait some more.

Oh and then continue waiting.

I hate this.

Like I want to punch someone hate this.

When I make an appointment and then get the 23 reminder phone calls not to be late, I mistakenly think my appointment will be at the scheduled time.

My assumption is that since they’ve reminded me so many times, they are also aware of when the appointment is scheduled.

Wrong.

This assumption is so wrong I can’t even begin to tell you.

Let’s take Friday for instance.

We had an ADHD check in with Michael’s doctor (who I think is great by the way). The appointment was scheduled for 2:20, we arrived at 2:05 per their direction, and we were taken into the waiting room around… 2:45.

We left after 3.

We talked to the doctor for maybe 7 minutes?

So….

Clearly something went terrible wrong.

When we were taken back the nurse let us know there were two patients ahead of us…

Um… the appointment was scheduled for 2:20… and it’s 2:45… so… yeah I can’t really comprehend the two patients ahead of us thing.

The scheduler makes you tell them why you need an appointment and gives you either a 20 or 40 minute slot, why the breakdown in the system?

The same thing happens at the dentist.

Seriously they must have done hundreds of dental exams and cleanings, why doesn’t the appointment time matter… at all… except that I be there… waiting.

For real I went to the dentist a month ago and we were there for over TWO hours.

So… if you need an appointment are you supposed to clear your schedule for the day?

It sorta seems like it.

Why does what they say will take 20 minutes actually end up taking forever and a year?

Efficiency people.

If Mrs. Timmy’s Mom comes in and asks a question about her 17 other kids when she only had an appointment for Timmy you’ve gotta shut that down. Mrs. Timmy’s Mom needs an appointment for every single child…

Ok, I feel my blood pressure rising over this, I better chill out before I have to see the doctor and wait, and wait, oh and then wait some more.
