I listened to a great episode of This American Life today.

Side note: If you don’t already listen to This American Life, start today. 

 And back to reality.

So I listened to an episode of This American Life about the people we call first- the people we call when things are awesome, and the people we call when life sucks (was that rude?).

Do you have those people in your life?

I totally do.

Except I don’t call them, I text them.

These people, bless them, are lifesavers.

There are a couple of people that get these text constantly, like to the point that if I were them I might consider blocking my number… just sayin…

I’m sure there are days when they get a text from me, roll their eyes, and question why I am sending them a message about something so meaningless (like the trip to Walmart mentioned above).

But…

They’re awesome and they respond.

And to be frank I need them.

I need them to reign in the crazy, validate my frustrations, and and overlook my glaring spelling errors… I’m fairly certain that I never spell “that” correctly.

I need them to read my stories about pee, send funny emojis, and tell me about the crazy stuff in their lives!

I need a steady stream of Friends quotes, weather updates, and just someone to check in and make sure that the whining hasn’t actually killed me.

If you don’t have those people, find them, or be my buddy… I have LOTS of great things to tell you… and my other buddies might appreciate the break.
