Today was another amazing and fun filled day at church. Actually today started off awesome. After a few brief scuffles before the meeting even started I took the Princess for a walk around the building. The boys were relatively quiet as the meeting started, one even attempted to sing the opening song, and the Princess snuggled her blanket.
Then it became apparent that despite being served breakfast, AsthmaMan had chosen not to consume… anything. He started begging for a snack and milk, luckily this wasn’t my first rodeo and I brought a granola bar (clearly didn’t learn my lesson from last week) and milk. He sat by himself and quietly and neatly (cause he’s awesome) ate his breakfast.
The Princess sat nicely on the floor and emptied the entire church bag, ate 2 or three snacks, threw some half eaten snacks at her brothers, and generally had a great time.
20 minutes into the meeting I was congratulating myself on getting through Sunday without any major issues… and then I realized that was premature.
It was at that point that the Princess remembered she could stand up on the bench. Luckily she also discovered she could reach down and grab the headband off the two year old behind us…oh wait that wasn’t lucky at all.
The two year old behind us was mad and started to scream which the Princess obviously found HILARIOUS. I yanked her down and she of course started to scream cry and look at me with an angry face.
She decided that standing on the ground was an ok compromise but at that point her brothers noticed her. Then things looked like this. I was trying to take a sneaky picture in church.
All three kids were playing together… never a quiet activity. The boys were relatively quiet, but the Princess would steal their toy, chuck it, and scream with delight. So that was awesome… AsthmaMan wasn’t annoyed with her at all.
Eventually she tried to escape by crawling under the benches. Since this isn’t my first child I knew to hold on to her foot. She spent a good long while trying to shake my hand off her ankle, pry my hand off with her chubby hands, and whine until I freed her… I didn’t. After she tired herself out she sat nicely on the bench shrieking at random intervals just because she likes how it echoes, and then…Harry Potter got out the colored pencils. At which point she proceeded to throw them into the surrounding pews.
Harry Potter was TICKED OFF. He searched for his pencils, made a big scene about a lost pencil, and then tried to steal it from the kid behind us.
By the end of the meeting the people behind us had to be sorry they sat there… All in all today was a great day for AsthmaMan, he was pretty quiet and calm, Harry Potter was fairly well behaved too. But the Princess… she more than made up for their good behavior with her random shrieking, attempts to escape, and “sharing” with everyone around us.
