School ends in less than a day.
I know I should be thrilled, but I feel like I imagine someone would if they were about to fall into a deep hole with no end in sight.
I know, I know, I’m dramatic, summer is awesome…. blah blah blah.
Summer sucks ok.
It’s 10,000 degrees, you have to wear a swimsuit, and your kids fight all the time- not gonna fake it for you, this is real life people, summer sucks.
Anyway, in preparation for summer I’ve made two recent trips to Costco. In truth I had to go back today because my family ate FOUR loaves of bread in a week, FOUR!!
When my kids are home they eat constantly.
If they’re not eating they are asking for food. They never want what I serve them (because that would be too easy), and instead beg for snacks.
To be honest our snacks are trail mix, cheese sticks, watermelon, and pretzels so I think they’ll be ok.
Does this happen to anyone else?
When they’re at school they eat practically nothing. Both boys come home with barely touched lunches most days, but when they’re here they eat like it’s going out of style… unless it’s a meal in which case they fast. I
s this just my kids?
Is anyone else concerned with the sheer volume of food their kids consume?
It’s not (always) junk either.
The other night for dinner (they opted not to fast) AsthmaMan ate 2.5 chicken leg quarters (which he refers to as “boat snacks” because he has watched Moana too often), 1 ear of corn, raw veggies, and about a cup of watermelon. He also had a piece of cake. Harry Potter had 1 chicken leg quarter, 3 small baked potatoes (which he ate like apples), veggies, and 2 cups of watermelon.
Yeah… they are 3 and almost 6.
Granted some days they fast but some days they eat 2-3 times as much as I do!
I can only imagine them at 14!
So I stocked up for summer… that should last about 3 days. Best of luck to all of you, summer arrives tomorrow!!!!!
